Bhujangasana - The Cobra

The Cobra is a strong and powerful posture that works on the upper body whilst the lower body remains totally relaxed. The posture is in 4 stages, with each stage raising more of the front of the body off the mat. This works on the throat, heart and solar plexus, whilst the back muscles are also lengthened and strengthened. This posture increases concentration, focuses the attention, improves perception of life and brings clarity to thoughts and actions.

With this posture all the movement is from the base of the spine upwards and therefore lower body (buttocks and legs) should remain relaxed throughout.
